Before becoming a Sports Journalist for Free Super Tips, Aaron spent three years studying Sports Journalism at the University of Sunderland while taking in the Black Cats' 'glory years' under Martin O'Neill. Now back in Northern Ireland he turns niche stats into predictions for FST, while he's one of the few people on this island who is equally comfortable at Windsor Park and the Aviva.

It may be an international break, but there’s still a busy week of action to come. With this weekend’s football mainly contained to Saturday, this week’s Long Haul features a game from Tuesday to Thursday and a trio of tips for Saturday.

I’ve put together a sixfold of away wins, which can be backed at 79/1 with bet365. New customers can take advantage of a great welcome offer from bet365, as you can get up to £30 in free bets by signing up through the link below!

Road Warriors Long Haul Accumulator Tip

Tuesday – Bradford vs Notts County

Notts County have fallen off the playoff pace in League Two after a poor run of form, but Tuesday’s visit to Valley Parade offers them a brilliant chance to return to form.

Bradford have lost 5-1 to Mansfield and 2-0 to Forest Green in their last two home games, while they’ve scored just 22 goals in front of their home support this term. With Notts County one of the highest-scoring sides in League Two, they should have enough to hand Bradford a fourth defeat in five at home.

Wednesday – Halifax vs Chesterfield

Halifax are making a late push for the playoffs in the National League, but they are little match for runaway leaders Chesterfield. The hosts are cruising to the title, having won 29 of their 39 matches in the fifth tier this term.

Chesterfield have the best away record in the National League and they visit a Halifax team who have one win at home to sides in the top half. Halifax have just the 14th-best home record so back them to fall to another defeat.

Thursday – Bosnia-Herzegovina vs Ukraine

Bosnia-Herzegovina are fortunate to still be in contention for the Euros, having finished fifth in their qualifying pool. While the Nations League has kept them in the hunt, the fact they finished 13 points behind the top two suggests Ukraine should win this playoff clash.

The hosts picked up two of their three qualifying wins against Liechtenstein, losing seven of 10 matches. Ukraine won half of their qualifiers and only lost out on second place to Italy on goal difference. With Ukraine scoring three times in three of their last four away trips, back them to see off Bosnia.

Saturday – Northampton vs Derby County

Northampton look safe on 50 points but with three defeats in their last four they are a side coasting to the end of the campaign. The same can’t be said of Derby County, who are pushing for automatic promotion.

After four consecutive wins, the Rams are second with five games left to play. They can cut the gap top leaders Portsmouth to two points with a win on Saturday. Only Pompey and Barnsley can better Derby’s return of 38 points from 19 games on the road and with three wins to nil from their last four away, they should have little trouble at Northampton.

Saturday – Carlisle vs Stevenage

Carlisle are propping up League One having lost each of their last four, while they have the division’s worst home record with 11 defeats this term.

They’ve lost five of their home clashes with the top six and playoff hopefuls Stevenage will look to condemn them to another defeat. The visitors have won nine of 13 visits to the teams beneath them, so back them to take all three points.

Saturday – Republic of Ireland vs Belgium

Stephen Kenny looked to be on his way out as Republic of Ireland boss long before he departed the job in November. The fact the FAI still haven’t replaced him says a lot about the current state of Irish football. John O’Shea is taking temporary charge for a pair of tricky friendlies this month.

The Republic’s issues run deeper than the dugout and it’s hard to see them proving a match for Belgium. The visitors may be ageing out of their golden generation, but they won eight of their 10 games in 2023. The Irish have lost three of their last five at the Aviva, avoiding defeat against New Zealand and Gibraltar. Expect Belgium to pick up where they left off.
