Club Brugge to Win and Over 2.5 Match Goals

Reason for tip

Club Brugge have won their last six league games, each featuring over 2.5 goals. They should be able to maintain that pattern against a USG side that are a few days on from their first major trophy win in 89 years and could be weary from celebrating.

Cup games will have an impact on league clash

After giving their all to win the Croky Cup on Thursday and spending the next couple of days celebrating their first major trophy in 89 years, Union Saint-Gilloise may come unstuck against league leaders Club Brugge on Monday.

Union can still catch Blauw-Zwart, who are only three points ahead going into the final three rounds, but Nicky Hayen’s side are so good at home that only one result looks likely.

Brugge have won six league games in a row and four consecutively at Jan Breydal Stadium. Each of those games has featured over 2.5 goals, which is worth noting when it comes to bolstering the odds beyond the 11/10 on offer for the home side to pick up all three points.

Union’s away goal production has stalled

Union have scored in 15 of their last 16 away league contests, but whereas they were regularly registering twos and threes on the road in the autumn and winter, Alexander Blessin’s outfit have managed multiple goals in only once in their last four away attempts.

They have one less day’s recovery time than Brugge, who fell at the final hurdle in the Europa Conference League semi-finals on Wednesday, so should be more ready for the battle that ensues.

These two clubs have had some close games this season, but Brugge won the last one at Jan Breydal Stadium 2-1 in the cup and that seems a likely outcome again.
