Struggling visitors to fall short

Cologne should be backed to defeat an out-of-form St Pauli at the RheinEnergieStadion on Saturday.

Both teams have lost more games than they’ve won this season, but there is a gulf of eight places between the two sides. Cologne are ninth with four wins and five defeats, while St Pauli are 17th with two wins and nine losses.

St Pauli’s 3-1 defeat away to Bayern Munich last weekend extended their losing run. They had just 19.7% possession and scored with their only shot on target, but Bayern were priced at 1/9 to win the game.

St Pauli are enduring a difficult run of results, having gone nine games without recording a victory and losing their last five away games in the league.

They have been disappointing in front of goal away from home this season, scoring just four times in six games – an average of 0.67 goals a game on the road.

Cologne have won two of their four league games this season by a 1-0 scoreline and St Pauli have been beaten by a single goal in two of their last three matches. A narrow win for Cologne looks the most likely outcome.
