Monza Double Chance (Win or Draw)

Reason for tip

Fiorentina have failed to win five of their last eight home league matches while Monza, who are a top-half team on away results alone, have avoided defeat in five of their last six Serie A road games. Both clubs have similar form, each having collected nine points from their last eight games, so a draw could be on the cards.

Draw 1-1

Reason for tip

Fiorentina have scored and conceded in their last six home league games, but they rarely ship more than once at the Artemio Franchi. Monza carry a decent goal threat on their travels, but they have only once shipped multiple goals in their last six away trips.

Olympiakos clash takes priority for la Viola

It could be a case of after the Lord Mayor’s Show for Fiorentina as the cup specialists return to Serie A action against mid-table Monza on Monday night.

Vincenzo Italiano’s side secured their return to the Europa Conference League Final on Wednesday night with a mature second-leg display in Bruges and that clash with Olympiakos now takes priority over any other for them in the remainder of May.

Qualifying for Europa League via the league always looked a tall order and, although they have a game in hand on Lazio, they remain six points behind the seventh-placed side.

Monza’s make-up suggests a draw is possible

Monza have nothing to fight for, but that did not stop them from pegging back Lazio twice to claim a 2-2 home draw last weekend.

Their road results have not been bad either with two wins and three draws in the last six away trips, which suggests they could be a spot of value to avoid defeat again.

Fiorentina have relied on a lot of set-piece goals this season, but Monza are not known to be vulnerable defensively from dead balls and are good protectors of the lead when they get their noses in front. This makes them a dangerous opponent for a side who could be on a bit of a comedown after European success.
