Bilbao Backed to Brush Aside Struggling Levante

Athletic Bilbao have a clear edge in the league standings and should be backed to beat an out-of-form Levante at Ciutat de Valencia on Saturday.

Both teams have lost more games than they’ve won this season, with Athletic Bilbao just eighth in the table. Levante are 19th with two wins and eight defeats, while Athletic have won five and lost six.

Levante lost 1-0 to Valencia last Friday, in what was Valencia’s first win in seven Primera Liga games. Levante were priced as 5/2 outsiders to win the game and suffered a narrow defeat. They have now lost all six of the games this season in which they’ve shipped the first goal.

It’s proving hard for Levante to keep opponents out this season. No team has a worse defensive record in the Primera Liga than Levante have this season, with 24 goals against in 13 games, and they have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last five league games.

Athletic Bilbao have lost on just one of their last eight Primera Liga visits to Levante.

Recent form does not inspire much confidence in Levante, who have lost their last three Primera Liga matches and have only won one of their last eight.

A 2-0 win for Athletic Bilbao looks like a decent correct-score option. Unders has been a winning bet in three of the last four Primera Liga games between these sides, and that trend could continue here.
