The Knicks were second in the regular season and they’ve improved since adding OG Anunoby midway through the campaign. The former Toronto Raptor has been on a title-winning roster, while he’s a solid postseason option and a defensive superstar. The Knicks have Jalen Brunson in the form of his life, so they’re fantastic outsiders to win the East.

The Timberwolves’ huge frontcourt is fancied to cause problems for a Suns side who lack the defensive options for a long postseason run. The Suns have struggled to impress in the last couple of playoff runs and they finished eight games behind a Timberwolves side who were the clear best side in the West before Karl-Anthony Towns went down with injury. With Towns back to fitness, back Minnesota to progress.

The Mavericks are flying right now and they meet an LA Clippers side who have gone cold. The Clippers roster is packed with players known for shrinking in the postseason and their star man Kawhi Leonard is an injury doubt.

McIlroy has an excellent record at the US PGA, winning the tournament twice. He has already won this tournament at Valhalla Golf Club – which is this year’s venue. That added edge should see him end his Majors draught at the US PGA this summer. 

Johnston won the US Open in 2016, a year after a second-place finish at the tournament. Overall he has seven top 10 finishes to his name at this event, including another one in 2023. Back him to lift his third Major title, having won the last time it was held at Pinehurst.

Schauffele is the final selection having been second at the 2018 Open, while he was victorious at the Scottish Open in 2022. He’s finished inside the top 20 in four of his six Open appearances and his great links golf record makes him a standout at this event. With six of the last seven Open winners coming from the States, back Schauffele to continue that trend. 

Alex Noren and Nicolai Hojgaard headline the field in the Dominican Republic and given how Hojgaard tailed off at the Masters last weekend, Noren stands out. He’s having a very consistent year, finishing ninth, 19th, 11th and 14th in his last four starts. His good showing in Bermuda in November points to success here, especially on a course which should suit his game. 

Tommy Fleetwood is well-placed to break his PGA Tour duck in South Carolina this weekend, after surging up the leaderboard late at Augusta last weekend. He finished seven at the Texas Open the previous week and his tee-to-green prowess should suit this course. he’s already finished tenth and 15th in the last two seasons and after a good run he’s good value for a victory. 

Novak Djokovic won three of the four Grand Slam titles last season to take his Major haul to 24, showing at 36 years of age that he still has plenty left to offer.

Djokovic was crowned Australian Open champion for a tenth time last season and, having won the Melbourne title in four of the last five years, he should take plenty of stopping as he is rarely undercooked for the opening Major of the campaign.

Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz are unlikely to have things their own way all season and they may be at their most vulnerable at the French Open, where there appears to be plenty of strength in depth amongst the clay-court performers.

With King of Clay Rafael Nadal having struggled for recent appearances, Danish youngster Holger Rune may pose the most serious test and he did claim the 2019 French Open boys’ singles title.

Rune’s two French Open main draw appearances have resulted in runs to the quarter-final while at 20 years of age he is already a four-time finalist on the clay.

Although QPR have won only two of their last five home league games, they were the better side in a 2-0 defeat to Sheffield Wednesday a fortnight ago and had similar xG stats to Hull in last weekend’s 3-0 away loss. Meanwhile, Preston have lost three of their last five Championship games, including two of their last three on the road.

Doncaster were 20th at the start of March but they need just three more wins to secure a playoff spot and can get the first by defeating Barrow at the Eco-Power Stadium. Grant McCann’s Rovers have won eight on the spin and can see off sixth-placed Barrow, who can be vulnerable on their travels.

Promoted Wrexham can no longer win the League Two title but they are likely to maintain a professional attitude and should be too strong for playoff hopefuls Crewe at Gresty Road. Hull are still scrapping for a Championship play-off position and they can keep their hopes alive with a victory against Watford, who have nothing left to play for and have failed to win any of their last five matches.The Hornets have also gone eight games without success at Vicarage Road and the Tigers, who have collected seven points from the last nine on offer, can improve on an away record that has seen them lose just one of their last seven road outings.Hull boast the fifth-best away record in the division, amassing 33 points from 20 fixtures, while Rotherham and QPR are the only teams to take fewer points at home than Watford.

Norwich have moved themselves into a great position to seal a play-off place in the Championship after a three-game unbeaten run, which included important 1-0 wins over Ipswich and Preston.The Canaries will be aware both Hull and Coventry beneath them have a game in hand, though, with the end of the regular season in sight.Therefore, they cannot afford to slip up against the Robins so a home win with both teams to score looks a good selection for this Carrow Road clash.The visitors are on a five-game unbeaten run themselves, scoring eight goals in that time, but Norwich’s greater desire to win should shine through as they look to secure a top-six finish while, in contrast, Bristol City – who are 12th – have little to play for other than pride.

Lincoln have been in storming form in the last few weeks and after ginning a key victory at Oxford last time out to aid their League One playoff chase, the Imps look unlikely to take their eye off the ball at this last stage of the season.That victory took city to within two points of the coveted sixth spot and they are unbeaten in their last eight away league games, which bodes well for a trip to struggling Cheltenham.The Robins are staring at relegation and while they gained the tonic of a key victory at Burton last time out, they have lost their last four games at Whaddon Road and are difficult to fancy even though three points would be a huge prize.

M’Baye Niang has scored four goals in nine Serie A appearances since joining Empoli in January, but many of those have been from the bench. His record of four goals in 414 minutes follows on from a prolific spell in Turkiye earlier this season when he scored eight league goals in 16 games (nine starts).

Former City man Cole Palmer looks a strong contender for an anytime goal. Players tend to raise their levels against their former teams and he has scored against City once this term, while he comes into the tie in red hot form with 11 goals across his last six games. Palmer will also be on spot kick duties for the Londoners.
