Bogey teams are one of those strange quirks you get in football, form goes out the window as one team seems to have some sort of hold over the other.
We’ve scoured Saturday’s fixtures and come up with a a ‘Bogey Teams’ accumulator where recent and/or historical records suggest one side has the measure of the other, irrespective of form and league positions. This week’s offering is a four-fold accumulator that pays out at a juicy 70/1

70/1 Bogey Teams Accumulator
Birmingham City vs Preston North End
Birmingham City have lost their last two games and now looks like a bad time for the Blues to come up against one of their bogey teams in the shape of visitors Preston. North End are the big underdogs for this Championship clash but they are the form team and arrive at St Andrew’s unbeaten in their last seven games with four wins and three draws.
The Blues did manage a win at Deepdale last season but Preston responded with a victory at St Andrew’s. Birmingham’s win in Lancashire last term was just their second win over North End since 2006 in a run that now stretches to 15 games. Preston have won nine of those 15 games and have four wins in their last five meetings between the two teams.
Bogey Team Betting Tip: Preston to win
Blackpool vs Barnsley
Blackpool have picked up recently with two wins in their last three games but could be heading for a defeat against a Barnsley side they have struggled against on Saturday. This is one of those fixtures where form could go out the window as the bogey team factor comes into play, as Barnsley are winless in six going into Saturday’s meeting at Bloomfield Road.
However, the Tykes have an excellent record against Blackpool and last time the two teams were in the same league, League One in 2018/19, they did the double over the Seasiders. Barnsley have won four of the last eight meetings between the two sides and lost just once, although Blackpool did claim an extra time win over the South Yorkshire club in the FA Cup during that period.

Oxford United vs Gillingham
Oxford United are in the midst of a terrible run with five defeats in their last seven games but they have had a hold over Gillingham in recent years and will be looking to get back to winning ways this weekend. The U’s have won eight of the last 12 meetings between the two sides, losing just twice, and at their Kassam Stadium base they really have had a hold over the Gills as they head into Saturday’s fixture looking for a sixth straight home win over the Kent outfit.
Bogey Team Betting Tip: Oxford to win
Swindon Town vs Colchester United
Swindon Town have made a decent start in League Two this season and look well placed to mount a promotion challenge as they sit in 10th spot, level on points with Port Vale in the final play off spot. Colchester are three points worse off with just two wins in seven games so far but they have a good recent record against Swindon and will be looking to record a third win of the League Two season on Saturday.
The U’s have won each of their last three games against the Robins. and Colchester also tend to enjoy their trips to the County Ground, with four wins in their last seven games at Swindon, losing just once.
