Barnsley vs Crewe
Correct Score Prediction: 2-0 Barnsley
Bottom of the table Crewe come into this match on the back of three straight defeats, and have only picked up six points from their first 11 games. Barnsley have won two of their last four games, with both of their last two home matches ending in victory for the 13th placed side. They have scored a few goals in each of these wins too, so a 2-0 win for the home side looks like a good bet.
Bury vs Wigan
Correct Score Prediction: 2-1 Bury
Bury are on a six match winning streak in League One at the moment, but they did fall to defeat in the FA Trophy against Morecambe in midweek. Wigan aren’t doing badly either though, and are unbeaten in five games in all competitions, although their last three League One games have all ended in a draw. I think Bury’s home advantage will get them the win on Saturday, so I’m going for a 2-1 victory for the promotion hopefuls.
Chesterfield vs Gillingham
Correct Score Prediction: 3-1 Gillingham
Gillingham are coming into this match in good scoring form and on the back of a three match unbeaten streak. The home side aren’t fairing as well though, with five defeats, one draw, and one win making up their last seven results in all competitions. They have conceded 14 goals in this period as well, so it’s highly likely that Gillingam will put a fair few goals past them on Saturday. I’m expecting an away win, and 3-1 looks to be the most likely scoreline to me.
Fleetwood Town vs Coventry
Correct Score Prediction: 1-1 Draw
Fleetwood’s win in the FA Trophy in midweek provided a welcome respite from endless defeats for the 23rd placed team. But in League One they haven’t won any of their last seven games, with all of their last four ending in defeat. Coventry have won three of their last five league matches though, and two of their last five away matches. With three of Fleetwood’s last five home league games ending all square and Coventry’s unspectacular away record I think a draw is on the cards, and 1-1 looks the best option to me.
Shrewsbury vs Colchester
Correct Score Prediction: 3-1 Colchester
The away side are coming into this match in excellent form, whilst Shrewsbury have lost four of their last five matches in all competitions. Colchester lost last weekend, but before that they were unbeaten in five games and had won their last four. Shrewsbury also had to play an FA Trophy game in midweek, whilst Colchester were given a break from the competition after being eliminated in the last round. I think this will play into Colchester’s hands, and their good form added to this will get them a 3-1 victory thanks to the leaky Shrewsbury defence.
Southend vs Port Vale
Correct Score Prediction: 2-1 Southend
Southend are in the better form as they come into this home match against Southend. The hosts have won four of their last five matches in all competitions, with only an away loss against Burton smearing their record. Port Vale are in decent shape though, having won two, lost two, and drawn one of their last five fixtures. Three of Port Vale’s last four games have ended with a 2-1 scoreline, with two of Southend’s matches ending the same way. I think this is the most likely scoreline on Saturday as well, so I’m going for a 2-1 Southend win.
