Barnsley vs Shrewsbury

Correct Score Prediction: 2-0 Barnsley

Both teams enter this match in fairly poor form, but Shrewsbury’s haul of two points in five games is the worst of the two teams start to the season. The newly promoted club are certainly having a tough time of it in League One, whereas Barnsley are at least winning a few matches. I think a 2-0 victory for the home side is a reasonable prediction.

Crewe vs Swindon

Correct Score Prediction: 2-1 Swindon

Crewe come into this game without a win in League One so far this season, with five losses and two draws spelling the start of another poor season for the team. Swindon’s loss at home to Sheffield United last weekend was their first of the league season, and their haul of eight points in the first five matches is reasonable. With Swindon in pretty good form I can see them taking advantage of the home side’s poor start to the season with a 2-1 win.

Gillingham vs Doncaster

Correct Score Prediction: 2-0 Gillingham

Gillingham are hoping that a win against Doncaster will send them to the top of the League One table. They have picked up 11 points so far this season and remain unbeaten after three wins and two draws. Both of these draws have come away from home, so the home advantage should give them the win on Saturday. Doncaster have picked up three draws, a win, and a loss in their five opening matches, but I’m expecting them to pick up another loss and a 2-0 scoreline is looking most likely.

Oldham vs Bradford

Correct Score Prediction: 1-1 Draw

Two evenly matches teams play it out in Oldham here. Oldham are emerging as the draw specialists of League One, with four of their opening five games ending level. Bradford have lost twice, but their win against Port Vale last weekend might have kick started their season. Neither team has scored more than one goal in a game so far this season, so I’m expecting a low scoring match here. I can see a low scoring draw coming a mile off in this match, and 1-1 looks to be the most likely outcome.

Scunthorpe vs Blackpool

Correct Score Prediction: 3-0 Scunthorpe

Our pre-season prediction was for Blackpool to struggle after their relegation from the Championship, and we weren’t wrong. Blackpool have lost their last four league games after drawing their opening day fixture. But Scunthorpe haven’t been great either, winning once, drawing twice, and losing twice. Blackpool have only scored once in their last four games, conceding ten at the other end. They are a team in turmoil, and I’m expecting Scunthorpe to boost their points tally with a 3-0 win over a side who have conceded two or more goals in every game so far this season.

Walsall vs Bury

Correct Score Prediction: 2-0 Walsall.

Early season pacesetters Walsall will be confident of continuing their near perfect start to the league season with a win over another of the league’s draw specialists, Bury. The away side have drawn four of their opening five games, with a 4-3 loss to Fleetwood being their only defeat of the campaign. Walsall drew their opening game of the season, but have since put together a four match winning streak. A 4-0 win over Blackpool last weekend saw them boost their confidence even more, and coupled with a pretty good defence I’m expecting a comfortable 2-0 victory for the hosts.
