Aston Villa vs Newcastle
Correct Score Prediction: 3-2 Newcastle
Aston Villa have undoubtedly improved going forward since their relegation was confirmed, but that hasn’t helped them at the back. They lost 4-2 against Southampton and 3-2 against Watford, and with a vastly improved Newcastle side visiting Villa Park desperate for a win I think they’ll ship a few more goals on Saturday. The Newcastle defence is pretty sketchy at the best of times though, so Villa should be able to bag themselves a couple of goals too, so a 3-2 win for the visitors is looking like a good option.
Bournemouth vs West Brom
Correct Score Prediction: 2-1 Bournemouth
Bournemouth’s recent form record shows them as one of the most out of form sides in the table, but it’s a bit unfair to ignore the fact that they have endured a very tricky spell of fixtures. They have had to play Spurs, Man City, Liverpool, and Chelsea during their run of five defeats in six games, and they actually looked pretty good in their defeat to Chelsea last time out. West Brom are just miserably boring at the moment. They are winless in their last seven outings and have lost five times, so I think Bournemouth have what it takes to get the win in what could be quite a scrappy match.
Crystal Palace vs Stoke
Correct Score Prediction: 1-1 Draw
Crystal Palace haven’t really improved since they finally managed to bag their first win of 2016, but it at least made them almost safe from relegation from the Premier League. They have only won two of their last eight in all competitions and one in their last seven in the Premier League, and they’re coming into this match fresh off the back of a loss to Newcastle. Fortunately for them Stoke aren’t in the greatest of form either. They drew with Sunderland last weekend to end a three match losing streak, so these two poor teams cancelling each other out with a 1-1 draw looks likely to me.
Sunderland vs Chelsea
Correct Score Prediction: 2-1 Chelsea
Sunderland are desperate for a victory to claw themselves out of the Premier League relegation zone, but I think that desperation could be their downfall. Sam Allardyce has done wonders for their defence, but I expect them to be exposed by an in form Chelsea who looked impressive at White Hart Lane on Monday. The hosts should be able to bag a goal with their decent attacking record, but I think the resurgent Hazard could terrorise their defence. A 2-1 win for the visitors looks a good backing to me.
West Ham vs Swansea
Correct Score Prediction: 2-1 West Ham
West Ham picked up an impressive 3-0 win against West Brom last time out to sustain their challenge for a top four position, and they are now just a point off Man United and five off Manchester City. Man United do have a game in hand over them, but there is still a chance that they can get a Champions League spot in the most surprising Premier League in history. Swansea looked impressive as well when they beat Liverpool 3-1, but this weekend they will be missing Ashley Williams and Gylfi Sigurdsson: Two of their most influential players. I think this gives the good looking Hammers the advantage, so I’m backing a 2-1 win for the hosts.
Plymouth vs Hartlepool
Correct Score Prediction: 2-0 Plymouth
Plymouth have secured a playoff spot in League Two but seen their chances of automatic promotion disappear with a draw to Cambridge United last weekend and a loss against Dagenham & Redbridge the weekend before. They will want to end the regular season with a win as they gear up for the playoffs, and Hartlepool United have lost three of their last four away games. They have failed to score in all three of these defeats, so I think a 2-0 win for the hosts is a good looking prediction.
