Albacete vs Lugo Predictions

This Sunday’s clash in the Spanish Segunda Division features two relatively unfashionable clubs at opposing ends of the table currently. Albacete are riding high in the top six but they do look a bit short on the standard being set by the likes of Depor and Malaga, who have still got a budget closer to top flight level following their recent relegations. Lugo meanwhile are hovering above the drop-zone but it is still early days.

Lugo have done well to establish themselves in Spain’s second tier in recent years. The Galician minnows appeared in the Segunda for the first ever time in 2012/13 and they have managed to achieve mid-table finishes in every season since then, rarely even flirting with the drop. Current Betis boss Quique Setién was the man largely responsible for their rise during a six year stay which ended in 2015 but they’ve chopped and changed more regularly since with Javi López the latest man to be dismissed a few weeks back.

Albacete meanwhile appointed Luis Miguel Ramis in the summer and so far he will be pleased with how things are going. Albacete are unbeaten in 4 games heading into this one but could only draw 0-0 away to struggling Tenerife last weekend. It’s questionable whether they will have enough firepower to go on and win promotion but they certainly are the favourites to win this match.

Overall the value could lie with going for the Draw in the Full-Time Result market though. 67% of Albacete’s home league games this term have finished level and a failure to convert one point into three in front of their own fans is a major reason why they aren’t even higher up the table. They have the joint best away record but only the 14th best home record as a result.

Lugo average a point per game whether they play home or away and they’ve only lost 1 of their last 5 on the road in all competitions so they look capable of adding to Albacete’s home frustration here.

Going for Under 2.5 Goals also looks good. That’s a bet that has landed in 67% of Albacete home league games this term while the same applies to a huge 83% of Lugo away games.

Indeed each of Lugo’s last two outings on the road have finished 0-0 and with a low-scoring game looking likely again, backing a 0-0 Draw could be the way to go in the Correct Score market.
