Amiens vs Angers Predictions
- Amiens have failed to score in four of their last seven games.
- Angers have kept clean sheets in each of their last three matches, all ending as wins.
- Amiens have the second worst home record in Ligue 1.
Amiens Plagued By Inconsistency
Amiens were trailing 2-0 in Marseille last week as the game entered its 80th minute but the relegation battling side managed to stay in the match and ended up scoring two late goals to earn a point. This was a performance that showed a lot of fight and desire from a team that have been accused of being the opposite in recent weeks so manager Luka Elsner will take a lot of heart from the result.
It could be a massive game in terms of their survival this season as they still sit 19th in Ligue 1, four points off Nîmes just above them. The Unicorns haven’t won a game of football since mid-December but they haven’t just been rolling over for the opponents with five of their last seven matches ending as draws. Some of these have come against lofty opponents like Marseille and PSG but their defeat to Metz in this time shows why they haven’t soared up the table just yet.
Despite putting two past Marseille and four past Paris, Amiens have failed to score in four of their last seven games so will have to be on their ‘A’ game as they host Angers here. The Unicorns also have the second worst home record in Ligue 1 which will hold them back here. They are very inconsistent at home with the results against PSG (4-4) and Reims (1-1) very good but their performances against the likes of Toulouse (0-0) baffling supporters.
Angers Looking To Make It Four On The Trot
Angers enter this match with the utmost confidence after beating Nantes in the derby last week. It was a huge victory for them which made it nine points from their last possible nine and they’ll be looking for three more here as they travel east. The win has carried them up to tenth which is massive and Stéphane Moulin will be confident that his side can keep it going.
Before these three wins Angers had been on a poor run of five defeats on the trot and this damaged their away form as a result. Le SCO actually haven’t been awful on the road this season with them going unbeaten in four away games before their defeats in Nîmes and Monaco. However, they proved their quality in their last away game in Brest (1-0) and they should be capable of replicating that here.
The Visitors To Maintain Momentum?
Angers have kept three clean sheets in a row and with this Amiens blowing hot and cold in attack, we feel they’ve got a good opportunity of doing so again. The hosts are terribly inconsistent and as a result we’re backing this one to finish 1-0 to the away side. They’ve beaten much better teams than Amiens as of late and we’re expecting them to do so again.
