Amiens vs Brest Predictions
Amiens made it five games unbeaten on Wednesday to extend their exciting run of form under Luka Elsner. Amiens barely stayed in the league last season but haven’t allowed that experience to scare them as they have been playing some gorgeous attacking football under their new coach. They currently sit 14th but have scored the sixth most goals in Ligue 1, including six in their last three matches. Five of these goals were scored against lofty opponents in Saint-Étienne and Marseille which really just shows that they aren’t afraid of taking the game to some of the biggest teams in the country.
Amiens have lost just one of their last eight matches in all competitions which is quite miraculous considering that they’ve conceded 13 goals in that time. Amiens are without a clean sheet since the second day of the season but have relied on their scoring form to carry them through. Amiens have lost two and won three of their last six games and will be hoping to make it three home wins in a row here.
Brest scraped past Metz in the cup in midweek as they won on penalties after drawing 1-1. They have now won four games in a row but their opponents in each of these games haven’t been of the most illustrious quality and they could get a shock as they travel to the north of the country. They beat Dijon, Metz twice (once in the league and once in the cup) and took advantage of a dominant but misfiring Angers to win 1-0 a few weeks ago.
However, Brest do sit 6th for a reason and have to be credited for beating what has been in front of them. Brest will be the visitors for this one but they have picked up just five of their 17 points this season away from home. They’ve won just one league match on the road and have the third worst chance creation stats away from home. They have also conceded the third most chances when on the road so it could get dicey for them here as they travel to Amiens.
Amiens are considerably further down the table than Brest at the moment but the Unicorns have been putting in some incredible attacking displays recently against some very good teams. Amiens will have to be on their ‘A’ game to beat Brest but we’re edging this one in favour of the home team. Brest have conceded eleven goals in their last six away games so we’re backing Amiens to win 2-1. Amiens aren’t that good defensively either so we’re also expecting Brest to score as they have in each of their last seven games.
