Arsenal vs Watford Predictions
Arsenal managed to break out of their five match winless streak on Tuesday when they hammered Hull 4-0 away from home to seal their place in the FA Cup quarter finals and extend their FA Cup unbeaten streak to 16 matches, 14 of which have been victories.
With a two goal deficit to make up on Barcelona in the Champions League and an eight point gap between them and the top of the Premier League, becoming the first team to win the FA Cup three years in a row for over 120 years will be high on Arsene Wenger’s agenda.
Watford battled hard against Leicester last weekend, but ultimately a wonder goal from Riyad Mahrez kept their title train rolling and made it three games without a win for Watford.
The pre season relegation candidates are now in 13th position in the table with a 12 point cushion over the relegation zone, so they will fee fairly comfortable with their position at the moment and be focusing heavily on this FA Cup clash.
But the Hornets haven’t been overly convincing in the FA Cup so far this season. They have played lower league sides in the last two rounds and faced the struggling Newcastle in the 3rd Round, but they have only managed 1-0 victories in each of these clashes.
I think that Arsenal will be back in the groove of things after their late equaliser at White Hart Lane and their 4-0 thrashing of Hull. Ultimately, they have the quality and home advantage to get a win on Sunday, and Watford’s record against the top teams hasn’t been overly impressive this season. Odds of 3/5 for an Arsenal win look excellent value to me, and I’m also going for a 2-0 correct score prediction considering Watford haven’t scored in any of their last three matches.
