Astra Giurgiu vs Roma Predictions
Roma have already qualified from their Europa League group, and now they head to Romania for their final fixture with nothing to play for. Will they be able to claim a result here and finish this group unbeaten? The fight for second, and domestic matters, may just get in the way.
Astra have made a late surge to move into second place, having lost their opening two fixtures in this group. While they’re now in contention to make it in to the knockout round, they first have to see off Roma to wrap up qualification. Should they slip up here, Austria Wien then can climb back into the top two and progress themselves.
Astra’s hopes for making the last 32 were handed a huge boost by the Serie A fixture list. After this game, Roma’s next two outings are against third placed AC Milan at home, and then leaders Juventus away. Having recently cut the gap between them and top spot to just four points, the Italians are in a real title fight. That’s going to be their main priority, even if they actually needed a result in the Europa League this week.
With those massive games coming up, Luciano Spalletti isn’t going to risk any of his top stars. They’ve already suffered an injury crisis in defence this season, so they won’t be risking their main men for a game where there is nothing for them to play for. That opens the door for Astra, they should get a few chances now. Roma were already conceding from 13% of the shots they faced, now they’re likely to be a lot more open.
Roma have just one clean sheet in five group games as it is, while they’ve conceded in 75% of their away Serie A games this term. Those numbers are from their first team, they’re likely to be much easier to get around when they head to Romania. Astra create chances as it is, they average 15 shots per match in their Europa League matches so far. However, they’ve conceded two goals per outing here in this group, while they’ve conceded from 20% of the shots they’ve faced.
While Astra have a great chance to push forward against a likely weakened Roma side, they’re still going to have worries at the back. We see both teams conceding here, with over 2.5 goals scored in total. over 2.5 and BTTS is our tip, it’s priced at evens with bet365.
