Eastern Conference glory the goal for Atlanta

Atlanta United were disappointed to finish last season empty handed but they’ve gone the right way about righting that this season with the side winning both of their opening games of the new season. It hasn’t been the hardest of starts for the side though with their wins coming over Nashville and Cincinnati but this match with Sporting KC represents a much harder challenge.

Atlanta have won both of their games so far by a 2-1 scoreline with the side looking good in attack despite losing star striker, Josef Martinez, to an injury that could potentially see him miss the whole season. Perhaps a little worryingly, Atlanta have only managed six shots on target in those two opening games but have shown their clinical nature by scoring 66% of those efforts.

Sporting KC to put last season behind them

Sporting Kansas City have their own wrongs to put right this season after they endured a terrible campaign in 2019, finishing outside of the playoffs. This season has started very well though with the team grabbing two wins from two and looking like they could challenge for the Supporters’ Shield this season.

The team have managed 11 shots on target in their opening two games of the season resulting in impressive victories over Vancouver Whitecaps and Houston Dynamo leaving them top of the Western Conference, and overall table, after two gameweeks. The form of the likes of Shelton and Kinda have been bit contributors to that and KC look really competitive in the early stages of the new season.

Two top teams go head to head

This looks like it could be the match of the weekend with the two leading teams coming head to head and we think both will be looking to land an early blow resulting in an open match with plenty of chances. We can see this game having plenty of goals and we’re backing the over 2.5 goal line to be beaten and both teams to score in this one.

Picking a winner is a little harder with both teams starting the new campaign so well and we’re inclined to believe that neither team will be able to find the three pints to increase their position at the top of their respective divisions. Whilst there should be goals in this game, we’re predicting this one ends in a 2-2 draw.
