Barcelona vs Borussia Monchengladbach Predictions
Barcelona have already tied up the top spot in their Champions League group ahead of Manchester City, so they can afford to take it a bit easy here after a tough El Clasico tie with Real Madrid on Saturday afternoon.
The hosting Barcelona led that game thanks to a second half Luis Suarez opener, but Real Madrid talisman Sergio Ramos popped up with a dramatic late equaliser to earn the visitors a point and make it three draws on the trot for Barcelona.
The hosts have now won just two of their last seven matches in all competitions and find themselves six point adrift of Real Madrid at the top of La Liga. With that, and the fact they have already won their Champions League group, in mind they could well rest a few players on Tuesday as they look to get back to winning ways in the league on Saturday.
One player that will likely demand to play is Lionel Messi. The Argentine star has already scored nine Champions League goals in just four appearances this season and will have one eye on Cristiano Ronaldo’s record of 17 goals in a single season. In addition to his Champions League goals he has also netted nine in the league to take his tally to 18 goals in 15 appearances this season, so he looks the best option for our anytime goalscorer predictions.
Messi can create goals out of nothing, but he shouldn’t have to on Tuesday. Borussia Monchengladbach made it seven games without a win on Saturday when Borussia Dortmund hammered them 4-1. They have now conceded 11 goals in their last six games and they have lost six of their eight away days this season. They have managed to qualify for the Europa League knockout stages, but in the Bundesliga they lie all the way down in 13th position.
Borussia Monchengladbach’s defensive record away from home is a real concern as they travel to the ominous Camp Nou. They have conceded 21 goals in their eight away matches and are facing a Barcelona side who have scored 28 goals in their 11 home games this season.
Barcelona have scored at least three goals in five of their 11 home games this term, and Borussia Monchengladbach have conceded at least three in five of their eight away days. This makes odds of 11/10 for Barcelona Over 2.5 Team Goals look very good value for money, so that’s what I’m backing alongside a 3-0 correct score predictions at 17/2.
