BATE Borisov vs Torpedo Zhodino Predictions
- Both teams have scored in each of the last six meetings between BATE and Torpedo Zhodino.
- BATE have conceded in five of their seven competitive games this season.
- BATE have won 13 of their 16 home league games since the beginning of last season.
- Torpedo Zhodino have conceded exactly two goals in three of their last four top flight away days.
BATE hit their stride
BATE Borisov, for the first time in almost 15 years, find themselves without the Belarus Premier League title in their trophy cabinet. The dominant side in Belarus were pipped to the title unexpectedly by Dinamo Brest last season, and that clearly had an effect as the 2020 campaign got underway.
They lost their opening two matches against Energetik-BGU and Slavia Mozyr, shipping five goals in the process. However, they do seem to have banished that disappointment to the past now and finally look like they’re getting back to their best.
Last weekend saw them thrash FC Minsk 3-0 away from home to make it two league wins in a row, leaving them just three points off the top of the table as they strive to make amends for last season.
Torpedo Zhodino continue to impress
Torpedo Zhodino are one of the teams above them, entering gameweek four at the top of the pile after winning three of their opening four games. Their last outing was a 2-0 victory over Energetik-BGU, but their most recent trip away did result in defeat to Dinamo Minsk.
In fact, while Torpedo may have won their opening away game of the season their general record on the road is far from impresive. They have lost seven of their last 11 Belarus Premier League away days, so Saturday won’t be an easy ride for them at all.
Goals on the agenda at the Borisov Arena
One thing we can expect here is goals. BATE have only kept two clean sheets in their seven competitive games this season and seven of their last 11 in the league have seen the opposition find the back of the net. Torpedo, meanwhile, have found the net in seven of their last eight league games. Both teams have scored in each of the last six competitive meetings between these sides, and we’re backing the same to happen again on Saturday.
Now that they’re back in form, BATE should have enough about them to see off Torpedo’s threat. They may have been out of sorts last term but they have still won 13 of their 16 home league games since the beginning of last term. Torpedo Zhodino have conceded exactly two goals in three of their last four away league games too, so a 2-1 win for the hosts looks a good bet.
