Beijing Guoan vs Shijiazhuang Ever Bright Predictions & Betting Tips, Match Previews

Beijing Guoan are having a pretty poor time of things in the Chinese Super League this season. They finished last season in 4th position in the table, but numerous clubs spending huge amounts of money in the transfer market has seemingly left Beijing Guoan a bit behind the times.

They come into this game in 7th position in the Super League with just seven games left to play in the league. This puts them seven points adrift of the 4th place spot they occupied at the end of last season and a huge 21 points behind leaders and champions Guangzhou Evergrande.

The hosts did manage to break out of a four match winless streak on Wednesday though when they visited Liaoning Whowin and came away with a 2-0 victory, but they will need an excellent run of form in the closing stages of the season if they are to qualify for the AFC Champions League. On the plus side they have won three of their last five home games in the Super League.

Shijiazhuang Ever Bright are having a much worse time than their opponents though. They managed a very impressive 7th place finish in their debut campaign in the top flight this season, but a classic case of second season syndrome seems to have stricken them. They come into this match rock bottom of the Chinese Super League with just 20 points from their 24 games so far.

They are behind 15th place Changchun Yatal on goal difference but are six points behind the safety of 14th place. They are also without a win in five matches in the league and have lost eight of their last 12 Super League outings.

It doesn’t look good for Shijiazhuang Ever Bright, and it looks even worse when you take into account their away form. They have lost six of their last seven trips away in all competitions and are winless in ten away days.

A Beijing Guoan victory on Sunday looks increasingly likely, and I’m certainly expecting them to come away with all three points. I think it could be a high scoring affair as well though. Five of Shijiazhuang Ever Bright’s last seven away days have seen at least three goals scored in them, as have half of Beijing Guoan’s last eight home matches. This makes odds of 13/10 for a Beijing Guoan Win and Over 2.5 Goals look very good value. I’m backing that along with a 3-1 correct score prediction at 12/1.
