Blackpool vs MK Dons Predictions
Saturday’s League One action sees Blackpool doing battle with Milton Keynes Dons at Bloomfield Road. Plenty of excitement is expected to be in order as both sides fight for the points on offer.
With popular boss Simon Grayson back in charge, long term boardroom turmoil finally resolved and supporter spirit restored, hopes were high for Blackpool coming into the new campaign and early signs are certainly promising. Indeed, the side have made a good start to the season, currently sitting 6th with 12 points from 7 matches and the Seasiders will be confident in pushing for a play-off spot over the coming months.
Nonetheless, after winning their first 3 games, Blackpool have hit a rocky patch and come into this game desperate for a win. Grayson’s men have drawn 3 of their last 4 league games and a 3-2 defeat at fellow promotion hopefuls Coventry last time out has them arriving for Saturday’s game under a degree of pressure, with putting an end to the current winless streak clearly the objective.
Meanwhile, after a dramatic last day promotion from League Two last season, Milton Keynes Dons have adapted fairly well to life back in League One. Whilst some have had the side pencilled in as candidates for back to back promotions, staying well clear of a relegation battle is a more realistic objective and early signs would suggest they’ll be capable of doing exactly that.
After 6 matches, the visitors have 9 points to their name and have already shown they can be a competitive outfit at this level, but consistency is a bit of a worry, even with the campaign in its infancy. Indeed, the team have won and lost 3 times so far in the action we’ve seen and back to back defeats to Peterborough and Accrington Stanley prior to a home win over arch rivals AFC Wimbledon certainly showed there’s still work to be done.
Ultimately, Saturday’s game should be an interesting one, with both teams generally tending to play in a positive and attacking manner. Blackpool are the slightly stronger of the two on paper but haven’t been entirely convincing in recent weeks, whereas you never quite know what you’re going to get with Milton Keynes, but there’s no doubting they can give the hosts a run for their money..
All things considered, calling a winner in Saturday’s game looks hard but great value can be found in backing both nets being hit. Both teams have scored in 7 of Blackpool’s last 8 games, as well as in 4 of MK Dons’ last 5 League One games and we think both streaks could well continue in a 1-1 draw.
