Bolton vs Charlton Predictions

It has been a miserable season for fans of Bolton and Charlton, two sides who had lengthy stays in the top flight not so long back but are now destined for League One. Bolton’s relegation has already been confirmed. They are winless in 12 Championship matches and have lost all of their last 6. Their match against leaders Middlesbrough on Saturday almost typified their season, certainly their home season. They were highly competitive for the whole game which was level at 1-1 going into stoppage time but there was a certain inevitability that Boro would find a late winner. Bolton have conceded in the final five minutes in 5 of their last 6 home matches, with 4 of those goals winners and the other a 90th minute equaliser to deny them what would have been a massive win against QPR.

It’s all academic now and they are now a massive 21 points off 4th bottom Rotherham and 10 behind Charlton. The Addicks will be relegated if they don’t win this match too and even if they do they’d still need to win all their remaining games which include matches against Burnley and Brighton and hope many other results go their way. Charlton have made clear improvements over the past month or so but they too have been prone to conceding late goals and their 1-0 home defeat to Derby at the weekend all but sealed their fate.

Their last 8 games have produced 3 wins though and only 3 defeats which is nothing remarkable of course but a considerable improvement on where they were at. While there is hope, they will fight on and the fact they still have something to play for could give them the edge here against a Bolton side that must be desperate for this season to end. Bolton’s home record is much better than their away one but even that has started to fall away in recent weeks and they are trying to avoid a 4th straight home loss here so backing Charlton Draw No Bet at 17/20 might be the best move here.
