Bolton vs Preston Predictions
Bolton Wanderers simply have to win here you feel if they are to stand any chance of getting out of the mess they find themselves. They are bottom of the league and 10 points adrift of safety with only 10 matches to go and clearly are going to need some kind of miraculous run to get of this mess. They have gone 6 games without a win since beating Rotherham at the start of February, a result which gave them a renewed sense of optimism. However some frustrating draws and narrow defeats have halted their survival bid while the Millers have put a winning run together to really turn up the heat on Bolton.
This might not be a bad time to play Preston though. Simon Grayson’s men have had a great season and probably already have enough points to ensure their survival. However they’ve picked up just 1 point from their last 3 league games and have scored only 1 goal in that time to leave them 7 points off the play-off places and without a great deal to play for. This is a local derby so they will be up for this game but they will need to offer more than they did in the 1-0 defeat at Nottingham Forest in midweek.
22 of Bolton’s 26 points have come at home so they don’t have a terrible home record considering they are bottom of the league. They fought back from 2-0 down to score late on and grab a 2-2 draw against Ipswich in midweek and have taken 8 points from their last 5 home games. Both teams have scored in all of those matches and with a draw not really doing either side any favours here we should see quite an open game again and backing both teams to score at Evens looks a sensible bet.
