Bolton vs Reading Predictions
It has been a sorry season for Bolton and with just 26 points from 38 games they may need to win almost all of their remaining matches to have any hope of beating the drop. In short that is highly unlikely to happen and they have only taken 1 point from their last 6 matches. They hit a new low last time out when they were hammered 6-0 at Bristol City and they are yet to appoint a permanent replacement for Neil Lennon. They have at least been competitive at the Macron and have only once been beaten by more than 1 goal at home this season so Reading should be under no illusions that this will be a walk in the park.
The Royals are in poor form too and haven’t won any of their last 5 matches which has included an FA Cup Quarter Final defeat to Crystal Palace and defeats in their most recent away games at Huddersfield and Brighton. Indeed they have only won 1 of their last 14 away games but won’t get many better opportunities than this. They are down in 17th place but with an 8 point cushion on the relegation zone so they should be able to avoid any relegation trouble with another win or two.
Bolton must already be thinking about League One and after battling bravely all season, the wheels seem to have finally come off in recent weeks particularly that mauling in Bristol. Reading would have been grateful for the break after their busy run of fixtures due to their cup exploits and should be refreshed now and ready for this game. Bolton should be able to make a game of it, as they generally do at the Macron but backing Reading to win 2-1 at 8/1 looks to represent value.
