Bordeaux vs. Lorient predictions, betting tips and match preview

After three consecutive Ligue 1 draws, Bordeaux will be out to grab their fifth league win of the campaign when they entertain bottom club Lorient at Stade de Bordeaux this Saturday night.

The run of stalemates has somewhat stunted Bordeaux’s progress in recent weeks. However, Jocelyn Gourvennec’s side are still fairly close up, ninth in the table going into this contest and just four points shy of the European qualification places.

Last weekend’s hard fought 0-0 result at Marseille would be viewed as a good result for most teams in the top flight and the resolution that Les Girondins have displayed of late should make them difficult to beat when Lorient visit Stade de Bordeaux this weekend.

Bordeaux won this corresponding fixture 3-0 last term tipping Saturday’s encounter further in their favour and a similar score line would not surprise this time around considering Lorient have lost all five of their 2016/17 Ligue 1 fixtures on the road, conceding nine goals in the process.

A 2-2 home draw against Montpellier last weekend may have temporarily stopped the rot for Franck Haise’s men, yet it’s hard to think Les Merlus are quite over a run of three consecutive Ligue 1 defeats in October to Nice, Nantes and Dijon whilst they were also knocked out of the Coupe De La Ligue by Rennes last week.

Bordeaux are still going in that competition after a 0-2 success at Chateauroux and with the draw at Marseille likely to have further enhanced their confidence, we’re sure that Gourvennec’s team can get the job done here this weekend against a Lorient outfit who are impossible to side with at the moment.

The 7/10 on offer for a home win is fair enough here but with Bordeaux fancied to hit the ground running, we’ll back the former six time Ligue 1 champions to cover a -1 handicap whilst 3-1 is the pick in the correct score market.
