Brazil U23 vs Spain U23 Predictions

- There have been under 2.5 goals in four of Spain’s matches and in three of Brazil’s.
Brazil bid to defend gold
Spain and Brazil face off in the Gold medal match at the 2020 Olympics on Saturday as the South Americans bid to become the fifth team to successfully defend the gold.
The Selecao claimed the top prize for the first time in their history as the hosts in 2016, while Spain are also seeking a second gold medal after winning the tournament when Barcelona hosted the summer games in 1992.
Both sides go into this match up unbeaten and this could be a cagey affair. After hitting seven goals in their three group games, Brazil have managed just one goal in open play in two knockout games and needed penalties to beat Mexico after a 0-0 draw in the semi-finals.
Spain were involved in a thrilling quarter-final as they beat Ivory Coast 5-2 in extra time after the game finished 2-2 after 90 minutes. However, the rest of La Roja’s fixtures have all yielded under 2.5 goals and two of their five games have finished 0-0 after 90 minutes.
We’re not expecting an end-to-end contest but Brazil may be able to just edge this match in normal time. Spain have been dragged into extra time in both of their knockout games, while a number of players within their squad also participated in Euro 2020 earlier this summer and this test against a quality Brazil side may be a step too far for the pre-tournament favourites after some physically demanding fixtures. As such, Brazil should go into this clash a little fresher than the Europeans and we feel a 1-0 win for Andre Jardine’s men stands out in the correct score market.
