Brentford vs Blackburn Rovers Predictions

These are slightly concerning times for Brentford fans and memories of last season’s top six finish certainly now seem a distant memory. They have lost 6 of their last 7 matches and have picked up just 7 points from their 12 Championship matches so far in 2016. All of their last 3 have been defeats and they were beaten 3-0 at local rivals QPR last weekend. They are now level on points with their opponents here with 7 points separating themselves and the bottom 3. Both managers will know they will probably need another couple of wins to secure their Championship status.

Rovers will be confident of achieving that aim. They have lost their last two matches away at Ipswich and at home to Leeds last weekend however a flurry of home wins prior to that leave them looking a bit better than they otherwise might have and Paul Lambert seems to be making steady progress with this side despite the loss of their top scorer Jordan Rhodes. Strangely they have appeared to carry more of a goal threat since the Scot left the club with other players chipping in with goals more regularly.

Brentford games nearly always provide a few goals, particularly since centre-back James Tarkowski left for Burnley in January. There have been over 2.5 goals in all of their last 7 matches but unfortunately for the Bees they have conceded 17 times in that period and that includes worrying defeats against Rotherham and Charlton, two sides in the relegation zone. The Addicks won here only a fortnight ago and Rovers may feel they can do likewise so this should be fairly open again and backing over 2.5 goals at 21/20 could be the best policy here.
