Brentford vs Ipswich Predictions

There are usually plenty of goals when these sides meet so there is a good chance this will be a decent game. Ipswich were involved in a thrilling Second Half on the opening day against Barnsley. They won 4-2 following a scoreless 1st Half with debutant Grant Ward coming off the bench to score an unlikely hat-trick. He’d only scored 2 goals in 55 appearances in English football prior to that so it was some debut from the youngster and he may be rewarded with a start here.

The Tractor Boys rested a host of players in midweek and were sent packing from the League Cup by Stevenage at Portman Road but it is unlikely to have any real impact on this game with a number of senior players returning.

Brentford’s season started in defeat at Huddersfield. Nicholas Yennaris looked to have grabbed a point for the West Londoners when he equalised in the 77th minute but they conceded again minutes later and fell to a 2-1 defeat. They also lost to lower league opposition in the shape of Exeter in the Captial One Cup so it has been an unconvincing start from the Bees and they’ll be determined to get a result from this game.

They have lost a few important players over the past year but they are a club that has tended to re-invest well and they should be very competitive in the division again. Goals do look likely here given the recent history of the fixture. Both teams scored in over 60% of Brentford home games last year and Ipswich will come here with a positive outlook too so backing Both Teams to Score at 8/11 looks to offer value in this one although it’s tough to pick a winner.
