      Brest vs Amiens Predictions

      • Brest have lost just two home matches since the start of last season with PSG being the only side to have won at the Stade Francis-le-Blé in this campaign.
      • The hosts have won four of their last seven home games with five clean sheets in this time.
      • Amiens are winless in the league since November and have lost each of their last six away games, failing to score in three of the last four.

      Brest happy to be home

Brest must be a frustrating team to support because they drift between greatness and hopelessness nearly every week. In their last eight matches they have had the incredible highs such as their 5-0 drubbing of Strasbourg and the 2-0 victory over an in-form Bordeaux but they have also slipped up to the likes of Montpellier (0-4) and even Ligue 2 side Lorient (1-2). Their most recent game was one of the better ones though as they battled back from 2-1 down to eventually win 5-2 at an awful Toulouse side.

With this match being played in Brest the players will also have a bit of a boost. They have a tremendous record at the Stade Francis-le-Blé with just two defeats there since the start of last season. Their only home defeat in the campaign came against the power of PSG so Brest should be pretty happy with their performances in front of their own fans so far. They have won four of their last seven home games with five clean sheets along the way.

      Amiens in need of inspiration

The situation is starting to get quite fraught at Amiens now with them winless in the league since November. They have had a tough run of games recently to be fair to them with eight of their last nine matches coming against teams in the top nine of Ligue 1. However, the fact remains that they have been struggling no matter who they have played against with their recent 1-1 draw with Reims being rather lucky as they scored via a penalty rebound.

Amiens’ away form will also hold them back here as they have lost each of their last six games on the road. In fact they have won just one away game this season and that was all the way back in September against newly-promoted Metz. The Unicorns have conceded 18 goals in their last seven matches on the road and with them also failing to score in three of their last four, the waters are looking dicey for Luka Elsner’s men.

The hosts to win this basement battle?

Amiens did win the last meeting between these sides in November but with Brest’s tremendous home form and defence, we’re backing the hosts to get the three points this time. Since the start of October, Brest have conceded the joint least goals at home in Ligue 1, a record better than PSG, and as a result we see them winning 2-0. This has been the score for three of their last four home wins and we can see it happening again here considering that Amiens have conceded on average 2.3 goals in every away league game this season.
