      Brighton vs Cardiff Predictions

Brighton hit another huge stumbling block at the weekend as they fell to a crushing 5-0 defeat at home to Bournemouth, with that result making it three losses on the bounce in the Premier League and plunging them into more uncertainty as we enter the final throes of the campaign.

The Seagulls are now 17th in the league table, only five points above the relegation zone. They do have a game in hand, but that doesn’t change the fact that this tie is huge with regards to the relegation battle. Cardiff are the side sitting five points below, so a win for the Bluebirds would see that gap closed to just two points and momentum shift in the Welsh side’s favour.

Chris Hughton’s side have only won two of their last 12 Premier League outings, and the side that were saved by their excellent home record last season have seen that form at the Amex Stadium disintegrate. They have won two, drawn two, and lost five of their last nine home games in the league, with that 5-0 humiliation against Bournemouth being a new low for them.

Cardiff aren’t exactly in fine shape either, as you would expect from a team on the brink of relegation. The Bluebirds have also lost three in a row, and six of their last seven league outings have ended in defeat.

Away from home things get even worse for them. They have only won two away games in the league this season, drawing twice and losing the remaining 12 matches. They have also only won one of their last 10 meetings with Brighton, so the odds aren’t looking favourable for the visitors.

Both of these teams have really struggled at the back lately. Brighton’s stalwart defence at the Amex has disappeared along with their form, leaving them with just three clean sheets in their last 11 home matches. Cardiff, meanwhile, have only kept three clean sheets away from home all season, conceding 30 times in their 16 matches.

The visitors have managed to score in five of their last 10 on the road though, and with Brighton hitting the back of the net in six of their last 10 at home, we think these odds for Both Teams to Score are pretty attractive. We’re backing that along with a 1-1 draw for our correct score prediction.
