Bristol City vs Bolton Predictions
The survival ambitions of Bolton and Bristol City have followed very different patterns in recent weeks. Bristol City have put themselves in a position whereby they should now stay up following a run of 5 wins from their last 8 Championship matches. They had only won 5 matches all season prior to that and victories over fellow strugglers Charlton, MK Dons and last week Fulham have been particularly crucial. This in theory should be the easiest of the lot against bottom club Bolton and victory for the Robins could see them go 7 points clear of the drop-zone which would be a really nice cushion to have going into the final 8 matches.
Bolton’s cause though now looks a hopeless one and they have picked up just 2 points from their last 7 matches. Last week’s game with local rivals Preston almost summed up their season. They were doing fine and leading the match for a significant portion of it but conceded a late goal that saw them leave empty-handed and staring down the relegation trapdoor. They are 11 points from safety and it is almost impossible to see how they can get out of this mess. Neil Lennon left the club on Tuesday by ‘mutual consent’ and former assistant and current Southend boss Phil Brown is the man they are targeting to replace him.
Wanderers have fought bravely for most of the season in face of tremendous hardship both on and off the pitch but in recent weeks it seems some of the spirit may finally be starting to wane and with an away record that stands at 4 points from 18 matches this season it is hard to see them getting anything here. Bristol City have found some form at just the right time and backing Bristol City to win at 3/4 is surely the way to go here.
