Bristol City

      Tip Reasoning

There had been a fresh wave of optimism around Ashton Gate in recent weeks after a first home win of the season against Nottingham Forest and some much improved defensive performances. However they slipped back into their bad old ways of leaking goals on Saturday as a rampant Fulham side secured a 4-0 lead before the interval in Bristol.

Jonathan Kodija grabbed a late consolation but you sense it might have been a case of back to the drawing board for Steve Cotterill after the defeat and he won’t have had much time to make changes ahead of the visit of Wolves on Tuesday.

The visitors come in on the back of an excellent 2-0 win at local rivals Birmingham on Saturday and will be optimistic about their chances against a Bristol City side that has already lost 4 times at home this season.

Wolves appear to be a really streaky kind of side. They have already won back-to-back matches 3 times this season but in between those sequences were three runs of 3 or more games without a victory. Their last 6 matches commenced with successive 3-0 victories over Fulham and Huddersfield. However they conceded 9 goals in their next 3 games losing them all prior to the derby win at the weekend.

They were much more solid at the back at Birmingham and should head into this game with confidence, certainly more so than Bristol City, who you can never really rely on to keep things tight at the back. The Robins have only won 2 of their 15 matches so far this season so backing Wolves in the ‘Draw No Bet’ market at Evens would seem like a low risk strategy and the prolific Benik Afobe might just prove too hot for the home defence to handle.

At 14/1 certainly there looks like excellent value in backing Wolves to win 2-0 for the 2nd time in 4 days.
