Burton Albion vs Brighton Predictions
Burton Albion were written off in some quarters before a ball was kicked this season. They are certainly the smallest club in the league but on the evidence of the opening few weeks of the season, there are at least 3 worse teams so survival is by no means an unrealistic target. They lost their opening 2 Championship games, but only by 1 goal, and have since gone 5 matches unbeaten in the league.
They’ve beaten two sides that reached the play-offs last year at home with both Derby and Sheffield Wednesday tasting defeat at the Pirelli, so the visit of another side to have made the top six last term here shouldn’t frighten them. They looked to be heading for their first away win of the campaign on Tuesday night when they led 1-0 at Fulham but, ultimately, had to settle for a point with Ryan Sessegnon scoring a last gasp leveler for the Londoners.
Brighton meanwhile grabbed a pretty late goal of their own to see off surprise leaders Huddersfield at the AmEx. Anthony Knockaert’s strike with 10 minutes to play gave the Seagulls a 1-0 win and it was a much needed response after back-to-back defeats against Newcastle and Brentford going into that game. Brighton come into this game on the fringes of the top six but they’ve struggled a bit on the road in recent times.
Brighton haven’t won any of their last 5 Championship away games and even in their very successful season last time around, they were drawing more than they were winning on the road. Burton have clearly shown they are no mugs and at the Pirelli Stadium are well capable of getting a result here to extend their unbeaten league run to 6 matches, particularly given the visitors don’t seem to be quite on top of their game right now.
Therefore backing Double Chance – Draw or Burton at 4/5 looks to offer value here.
