Bury vs Newport County Predictions

After dropping down from League One last season, there was always going to be a transition period for Bury as they adjusted to life at the lower level. Their chances of success, however, was always going to hinge on how quickly they could recover from their relegation hangover, and if they are able to claim all three points from high flying Newport County on Tuesday evening then they will believe they can make a charge for an immediate return to England’s third tier.

The hosts come into this match on the back of a dominant 4-0 demolition over a Notts County side who have disappointed so far this season. That result is not exactly a fluke either as Bury are now undefeated in their last five league matches and, although very early in the season, they currently occupy the last of the play-off places. A major reason for their success is their strong home form, and with 15 of their 23 goals scored so far in the league coming on home soil, it is easy to see why.

Bury have several players who can find the back of the net, but there is one player who stands out. Experienced and well travelled striker Nicky Maynard has only made five appearances so far this season, but with four goals in his previous three outings, he certainly looks to be a good bet to find the back of the net when Newport come to town on Tuesday evening.

Making the trip to Gigg Lane is a Newport County side who will be keen to bounce back from their heavy 4-1 defeat at the hands of Crawley Town. County have performed far above expectations so far this term and they are currently sit in fourth place. A major part of their success has been built on the back of their ability to find the back of the net, a factor which has been especially apparent of late as they have scored 11 times in their previous five outings.

With both of these sides focusing much of their capabilities on attacking football, we should expect for a match which produces plenty of goals this Tuesday evening. The hosts appear to have found their scoring touch of late, and with the visitors seeing both teams score in each of their previous five games, we think that is a trend which is set to continue and we are backing each side to find the back of the net.
