Cambridge United vs Crawley Town Predictions
Any side who enjoys a strong start to the season knows that they cannot afford to rest easy thinking they have accomplished their goals and they need to do all they can to continue their momentum as long as possible. For fans of Cambridge United, they will be disappointed to discover their side’s good form has dipped in recent weeks but they have the opportunity to recapture that momentum when they welcome Crawley Town this weekend.
The main problem for the hosts of late is that they’ve not been doing enough in the final third, both in terms of creativity and end-product, which is why they’ve scored more than once just twice in their last seven league matches. What’s more, the U’s have failed to make Abbey Stadium a tough place to go this term, as they’ve won just two of their eight matches on home soil.
As for the visitors, well, Crawley have done reasonably well this season but they will be concerned by their recent drop in form. Just a few weeks ago, the visitors sat in a respectable 9th position and were just two points shy of the play-off places, however, just one win in their last eight means that they have slipped from that lofty position and are now looking nervously over their shoulder. Despite this dip, Gabriele Cioffi’s men have continued to score more than most but their pleasing attacking work has been negated by a tendency to concede.
It is clear that this match will be a contest between an Cambridge side who are hoping to keep things tight, against a Crawley side who will be looking to outscore their opposition. However, given the visitors dip in form, we think that they may start to take less risks and this may result in a lower attacking output. With this in mind, we think that backing there to be less than 2.5 goals scored represents the best opportunity for a decent return.
In terms of a correct score tip, we cannot see the either side going to town in a goal fest and home advantage should prove to be key. With this in mind, backing a 1-0 home win appears to be the way to go.
