Cardiff vs Derby County Betting Tips & Predictions

The race for the Championship play-offs would get really interesting if Cardiff can win this. They are currently in 7th place, 5 points behind Derby in 5th with Sheffield Wednesday sandwiched in between the two. They would feel that 3 points might just give them the momentum to really go on and secure a top 6 finish however the  Rams will also see this as an opportunity to all but rubber stamp their participation in the end of season play-offs and a victory would give them a comfortable 8 point margin over the Welsh club.

The Rams aren’t in great form though and haven’t been for some time. They did win the East Midlands derby with Nottingham Forest last time out but had only won 3 of their previous 14 games in the league. In their last away match they inexplicably let a 3-0 lead slip at Rotherham to draw 3-3 and they are still far from a convincing outfit.

Cardiff are on a decent run and have only lost 2 of their last 12 in the league, winning 6 of them. However they too are prone to the odd slip-up as their recent 2-0 home defeat to Leeds proved. Their overall home record over the last 12 months has been very good though. That loss to Leeds was their first since September and they’ve only lost 2 of their last 20 at the Cardiff City Stadium in the Championship so Derby have their work cut out if they are to secure all 3 points here.

Derby have won only 1 of their last 8 away league games and that was at a badly out-of-form Brentford and even that match they were losing going into the closing stages. The Bluebirds have already beaten high-flying Middlesbrough and Brighton in the league at home this season and it would be no surprise to see them repeat that here so consider backing Cardiff 0.0 Asian Handicap at 1.875.
