Celta Vigo vs Villarreal Betting Tips and Predictions

These two sides both have European ambitions and if the season were to finish now they’d both be playing in Europe next season. It is very hard to see Villarreal not making the Champions League next term. Their 3-0 win over Levante at the weekend has given them an 11 point lead on 5th placed Sevilla and 6th placed Celta Vigo. If they avoid defeat here they can probably start planning their assault on the European elite next term and they go into the game just 2 points below Real Madrid in La Liga.

Celta Vigo’s slump in form coincided with Nolito’s injury absence but their star player is back now and he netted the only goal as Celta won at Getafe last weekend. It was the perfect boost going into tough games against Villarreal and Real Madrid in the space of 4 days. They have though only won 1 of their last 4 home games and nearly threw away a 3 goal lead against Eibar last time out at Balaidos.

Celta are pretty clear favourites with the bookies for this but Villarreal are used to being written off and there looks to be value in backing them to get a result here. They are unbeaten in 13 league matches and have scrapped hard to earn points away from home at Atletico Madrid and Athletic Bilbao in recent weeks so this game won’t fear them. Therefore backing Villarreal Double Chance at 8/11 could be where the smart money is to be found here.
