Chapecoense vs Coritiba Predictions
Chapecoense have been one of the most entertaining sides to watch in Brazil this season. Only 3 teams have scored more goals than them but nobody has conceded as many. They are in reasonably good form with just 2 defeats from their last 9 in the league and find themselves right in mid-table. With only 5 points separating them from the top five but also the relegation zone, their season could yet go in either direction. They drew 2-2 at struggling Santa Cruz in midweek and might have been aiming to win the game but would also have breathed a sigh of relief when Bruno Rangel converted a late penalty to rescue them a point.
Coritiba’s situation is actually quite similar to that of Chape. They are one place below them and have also been scoring and conceding plenty. They are in really good form in the league though having gone 5 games without defeat, 3 of which have been wins to move themselves out of the drop-zone and into mid-table. They put in a stunning 1st Half display on Wednesday night, scoring 4 goals in the space of 17 minutes to rip high-flying Gremio apart.
That 4-0 win will have sent them into this game on a real high and it suddenly looks like a fixture that could go either way. The one thing that should be guaranteed are goals. Both teams have scored in 8 of Chapecoense’s last 9 league outings and in 4 of Coritiba’s last 6. Chape have always been a threat in front of goal this season and Coritiba are increasingly becoming one. They are sharing the goals around too and all of Coritiba’s last 8 Serie A goals have been scored by different players.
Given those things, there looks to be real value here in backing Both Teams to Score at Evens and it’s hard to figure why the odds aren’t shorter not least because there were 7 goals when the sides met earlier in the campaign.
