Charlton vs Brighton Predictions
Charlton were relegated with a bit of a whimper in truth on Tuesday night when they could only draw 0-0 against Bolton, the only side below them and who they will be joining in League One next season. The Addicks had won 3 out of 5 matches to give themselves a bit of hope but just 2 points from 4 games since then has meant they were unable to take their survival bid into the final weeks of the season. The Valley is an angry place right now and there could be fresh protests at the way the club is being run on Saturday now relegation has been confirmed which won’t really help their players.
Brighton meanwhile will only be thinking about one thing and that is winning this match and taking a step in the direction of the Premier League. Their 4-0 win at home to QPR on Tuesday was their 4th victory in a row and extended their unbeaten league run to 11 matches. They were also boosted by the 1-1 draw at Turf Moor between fellow automatic promotion hopefuls Middlesbrough and Burnley. The Seagulls are now level on points with Burnley and just 2 behind Boro but are 4 goals shy of both clubs on goal difference which could prove key in such a tight race.
They have been doing plenty to cut that deficit in recent weeks though. They’ve won their last two matches by 5-0 and 4-0 scorelines and have scored 4 or more goals without conceding four times in that 11 match unbeaten run. Priority one here is to secure the win which they should manage the way they are playing and given Charlton are now down and in a state of disarray. The temptation to chase a big win is clear here though. If they could manage to surpass the goal difference of the other two then it could really change what they need to do on the final day when they travel to leaders Middlesbrough in a potential automatic promotion play-off.
Brighton have won 4-0 three times in the last two months so backing Brighton to win 4-0 at 20/1 looks a seriously good punt here.
