Charlton vs Middlesbrough Betting Tips and Predictions 

This is a huge game for both clubs. Charlton desperately need a win to fire them a bit closer to the sides they are chasing. They are 7 points shy of safety going into the weekend but have taken 4 points from their last 2 games after a 2-1 win at Brentford and a 0-0 draw at home to MK Dons in midweek. They could really have done with winning that game with the Dons the side just above the drop-zone in 21st. Charlton have a nightmare run-in which makes it hard to see them beating the drop and they are going to have to beat some of the top sides if they are to stand a chance.

Middlesbrough have come unstuck in surprising circumstances this season though, losing twice against Bristol City and they were beaten 1-0 at Rotherham, who are only 1 place above the Addicks, in midweek. They are still 2nd with a game in hand on leaders Burnley but they are more limping towards the Premier League than anything right now when a few months back it looked like they were on course for more of a cruise into the promised land of the top flight and they’ve only won 1 of their last 6 on the road.

There is though a big gulf in class here which is why Boro are clear favourites to win the game. Charlton have let in 45 more goals than Middlesbrough this season and their goal difference is an enormous 60 goals better overall. The Addicks may be wise to follow the lead of the likes of Bristol City and Rotherham who have opted to try to keep things tight and frustrate a Middlesbrough side which isn’t always great going forward and then hope to nick a goal somewhere. Charlton have improved a bit defensively of late and there have been under 2.5 goals in 6 of the last 7 games at the Valley. There have also been under 2.5 goals in 6 of Middlesbrough’s last 7 away games so backing there to be under 2.5 goals at 7/10 is perhaps the way to go here.
