Chelsea vs Manchester City Predictions

Chelsea fell to their first Premier League defeat under Guus Hiddink this season when they lost to Swansea last weekend. They fully deserved their 1-0 loss after a lacklustre and toothless performance at the Liberty Stadium.

This made it just one win from Chelsea’s last six games in all competitions, with defeats to Everton in the FA Cup and Paris Saint Germain in the Champions League leaving them on the wrong end of defeat three times during this period.

Despite their vast improvement since Jose Mourinho left, Chelsea are still struggling to make up any lost ground in the Premier League. They come into this match in 10th position, with their 44 point total leaving them nine points off the top five in the table.

Manchester City did what Chelsea failed to do in midweek and defeated Paris Saint Germain. Their surprising 1-0 win over the Ligue 1 champions made it 3-2 on aggregate and saw Manchester City through to the Champions League semi finals for the first time in their history.

This win also made it four games unbeaten in all competitions for Manuel Pellegrini’s side, although they are still looking behind them in the Premier League as they try to ensure a Champions League spot next season.

At home Chelsea have only lost one of their last 12 in all competitions, whilst Manchester City have only won two of their last six away days.

With both teams’ attacking players in relatively good form we could be in for an entertaining match on Saturday. Chelsea have scored in all of their last 12 home matches but haven’t kept a clean sheet in ten of them, with the last one coming in January. Manchester City, meaanwhile, have only failed to score in two of their last 13 away days in all competitions.

This makes odds of 8/13 for Both Teams to Score look good enough value to back, and I’m going for that along with a high scoring 2-2 draw at 11/1.
