Cheltenham vs Yeovil Town Predictions

There may still be plenty of time left in the League Two season but the table is already well established and sides know that they will have to gain as many wins as possible between now and the end of the campaign if they are to achieve their goals. This Tuesday evening sees two sides face off who still have plenty of work to do if they are to secure their survival in the division as Cheltenham Town welcome Yeovil Town to Whaddon Road.

Survival was always going to be the number one priority for Cheltenham Town this season and, although they look reasonably comfortable in 19th place, they only have a six point cushion over Macclesfield Town in 23rd. Part of their troubles this term has come on the back of their inability to perform when on home soil and The Robins have won just four of their 14 matches in front of their own fans. The hosts may have earned a morale boost following their 3-2 come from behind victory over Macclesfield but any momentum would have been halted following their postponed fixture at the weekend.

Making the trip to Whaddon Road is another side who are struggling towards the foot of the table as Yeovil Town look to boost their survival bid on Tuesday evening. Unlike their hosts, Yeovil did manage to play at the weekend but they fell to a 1-0 defeat away to play-off chasing Stevenage, their second defeat in a row following their 2-0 loss to league leaders Lincoln City. Those two defeats mean that Yeovil have now lost four of their last six matches and have just a three point cushion over the drop zone.

The troubles encountered by both of these sides this season is not helped by the fact that neither side is particularly lethal in front of goal. The visitors have failed to score in three of their last five outings and their hosts average just 1.29 goals per game at home this term. With this in mind, we think that backing this one to finish with less than 2.5 goals scored represents the best chance of a decent return.
