Chester vs Gateshead Predictions

These two teams might be in a similar position in the National League standings, 8th and 12th, and it’s clear to see why. Inconsistency has blighted both of these two during this campaign and has, even at this stage, probably removed any chance of a play-off push.

The bet to go for ahead of this one is ‘Chester to Score Over 1.5 Goals’ at odds of 6/5. The home side have often relished playing on their own patch this season and can bounce back from what has been a reasonably poor run.

Despite losing last time out, Chester proved that they’re certainly an attacking force when scoring two past the team in 2nd place away from home, while they’ve often shown themselves to be quite the attacking unit at the Deva. Only two teams have scored more goals at home this season than Chester, who, having found the net 29 times, have scored at least twice in eight of their 15 home fixtures.

Gateshead are by no means a bad side, they’re currently eighth in the league and are capable of putting in performances – their 5-0 thrashing of high-flying Dagenham earlier in the season serves as a great example of this. However, they’ve not quite been at it of late, struggling particularly away from home. They were beat 3-1 by Torquay last time out and have now picked up just four points from a possible 15 on the road, conceding seven goals in the process.

The visiting side have also failed to score in three of their last five away from home, against a Chester team who’re certainly capable of turning it on at home, they could easily find themselves coming up short once again.

Overall, the hosts wouldn’t be the worst bet to win the match, but they look an even better bet to find the net a couple of times and, therefore, that’s the way to go ahead of this one.
