Chicago Fire vs Colorado Rapids Predictions

Neither of these two teams have had the start to the 2019 season they would have hoped for, but at least the hosts six points on the board. Colorado Rapids have only managed to pick up two draws from their opening six matches and head into this weekends match on the back of four straight defeats.

Chicago Fire controlled the majority of their match at home to Vancouver Whitecaps last time out and still ended up going behind early in the second half. The hosts attempted a quick response, but everything they tried failed to produce the equaliser they so desperately wanted. Just when it looked like Vancouver Whitecaps might hold on for the win, Chicago Fire were awarded a penalty which Nikolić converted late on to rescue the hosts a draw. An effort from Feilhaber saw Colorado Rapids take an early lead at home to DC United, but it proved to be a false dawn as the visitors went in at the break 3-1 up. Rapids threatened a comeback when Kamara made it 3-2 in the sixty-sixth minute, but the hosts couldn’t carve out an equaliser.

As you might imagine for two teams that have had slow starts to the season, neither side heads into the game with a good defensive record and that coupled with the recent head to head meetings between the pair, points towards both teams scoring on Saturday and Chicago Fire as the most likely winners. Both teams have scored in four of the last seven meetings between these two clubs, with Chicago Fire winning three of those seven encounters. Both teams have scored in five of Chicago Fire’s last six and each of Colorado Rapids’ last five matches. Chicago Fire are unbeaten in their last three matches and have only lost once at home, while Colorado Rapids have lost their last four matches and have been defeated in all of their away games this season.

Sapong top scores for the hosts with three MLS goals, but teammate Nikolić is just one behind on two. Kamara leads the way for Colorado Rapids with four goals, but is yet to see any rewards for his efforts as the team remain winless. We’re confident that both teams will score on Saturday, but have backed Chicago Fire to win the game 3-1. The hosts have started the season better than their guests and lead the head to head record between the two clubs, and their guests have lost all of their away games so far this season.
