Club Brugge vs Lazio Predictions

  • Both teams scored in six of Club Brugge’s last eight games.
  • Both teams registered in four of Lazio’s last five matches.
  • Club Brugge won just two UCL group games since 2005.

Both teams to score in Brugge?

Belgian giants Club Brugge started their Champions League Group F campaign in equal parts impressive and unexpected style last week, when the Blauw-Zwart scored a 92nd minute winner to secure three points in Russia against Zenit.

The victory – which was only Brugge’s second Champions League group game win since 2005 – was a fully deserved one following FCB’s fine showing in St. Petersburg, though a repeat result against Lazio this week looks unlikely.

Lazio turned heads last week in their first continental test of the season with a superb 3-1 win over a highly-rated Borussia Dortmund team in Rome, and though Simone Inzaghi would have been thrilled with his team’s productivity in the final third, the Biancocelesti saw his team concede for a disappointing fifth game on the bounce.

Both teams found the net in four of those five fixtures – and the evidence suggests we should expect both teams to register again when Lazio visit Brugge on Wednesday.

Goals were plundered at either end in six of Club Brugge’s last eight assignments in all competitions, and having watched the Belgians score and concede in the Champions League week, we expect to see a similar outcome against Lazio this week.

Alongside our both teams to score forecast, a 2-1 away win is also advised. Emboldened by their win in Russia, Club Brugge have the confidence to attack their visitors on Wednesday, and that should open up plenty of counter-punching gaps for a more experienced Lazio team to exploit.

The Biancocelesti won 2-1 at the weekend against Bologna, and a repeat of that scoreline looks possible in Belgium against Club Brugge.
