Crewe vs Port Vale Predictions

Hopes are always high at the start of the season as fans of every club expect their side to build on the season before, and for fans of both Crewe Alexandra and Port Vale, they will be delighted with the strong start their team has made so far. However, the season is long and they know that keeping this momentum with three points at the weekend will be essential to any success come the end of the season.

Crewe Alexandra will be delighted with the strength they have displayed in the first part of the season and with the side at the top of the table, there will be real hope that they can achieve an unlikely promotion come the end of the campaign. What makes their success so unlikely is that the side is largely made up of prospects from their youth set up, a tactic which has served them well over the years and it appears that this latest batch of youngsters have a fine future ahead of themselves in the game.

Making the trip to Gresty Road is a Port Vale side who will also be happy with their start as, although they have not quite been as strong as their hosts, they have still made good progress and are also in the hunt towards the top of the division. However, Vale have not exactly been at their best away from home and the six points that they have earned on their travels from their eight league matches to date represents the joint third worst return in the division.

The hosts will more than likely be the favourites going into this match, but their form has been a bit patchy of late and we do not think there is much value in backing them on the outright win. Instead, we think that one of the top scoring teams in the division will once again come up trumps, and when you combine that with the fact that the visitors have scored 12 in their last seven, backing both teams to score appears to be the way to go.

In terms of a correct score, the lack of form away from home makes it hard to make an argument for Port Vale to earn a positive result and, with this in mind, we are putting our money on a 2-1 home win.
