DC United vs Toronto FC Betting Tips & Predictions

DC United finally managed to get their first win of the season on Saturday, and they did it in style as they thrashed Whitecaps 4-0 at home thanks to braces from Fabian Espindola and Alvaro Saborio.

Prior to this they hadn’t been awful by any means, but their opening day collapse at LA Galaxy seemed to have been weighing on their mind. They went into the break of that match 1-0 up, but their defence disintegrated in the second half and they ended up losing 4-1. They then went on to draw three and lost one of their four games after that.

This leaves them with six points from their opening six games, but with four home fixtures coming up in the next month they will be hoping to significantly increase that tally.

Toronto FC managed to welcome the new MLS season in with a win at Supporters Shield holders New York Red Bulls, but it’s gone steeply downhill since then.

They haven’t won a match since, with draws against New York City and New England Revolution sandwhiching back to back 1-0 defeats to Sporting Kansas City and Colorado Rapids. To be fair, all of their matches so far have been away from home.

Toronto FC’s away form has been below par for some time though. They have lost eight of their last 11 away days in the MLS, and I think DC United’s triumph at home on Saturday will have lifted their confidence enormously. Odds of 6/5 for a DC United win look very good value to me, and I’m going for a 2-0 correct score prediction at 10/1.
