Dunfermline vs Dundee Predictions

  • Both teams have scored in six of Dunfermline’s eleven home games and in six of Dundee’s away days.
  • The Pars have scored at least once in eight of their eleven games at East End Park.
  • The Dee has scored a measly average of 1.3 goals on the road and has conceded 1.4 times per away game.

Hosts on a losing streak

Dunfermline’s start to the year only got worse as the club lost last week to 8th-placed Greenock Morton, extending their losing streak to a worrying five games. The Pars haven’t won since the start of December and are only three points off relegation.

Despite losing their last two games at East End Park, Dunfermline has the 4th-best home record in the division. They’ve also scored an impressive 19 goals at home, the joint third-highest in the league with an average of 1.73 goals per game. However, their defence is also one of the worse ones, as they’ve conceded 14 times all season- an average of 1.27.

Dundee fail to hit form

Dundee made it three games in a row without a win last weekend as they were unable to overcome Premiership side Motherwell in the Scottish Cup, losing 3-0 at Dens Park. The Dee’s away form has been inconsistent but not bad, losing just one of their last seven away trips.

James MacPake side has also done well to score goals, even if it’s not that many. They’ve bagged an average of 1.30 goals on their travels, scoring 13 goals this season and only failing to score on two occasions. Also, both teams have scored in six of their ten away fixtures.

Stalemate at East End Park

With a league table as compact as the Championship one, both sides are both within touching distance of the relegation zone and the promotion places, making this a crucial game for them both to put distance between themselves and the team below.

However, despite the hosts’ terrible form, we think that this could be the game for them to pick up much-needed points. Whilst Dundee are in 4th place, they’ve not been brilliant, as made evident by their average of 1.3 goals scored this season on the road. Moreover, both teams have scored in 55% of the hosts’ home ties and in 60% of the Dee’s away days, which is what we’re backing here. We’re also going for a final score of 1-1, as Dunfermline has only failed to score in three of their eleven home games this season, with Dundee also conceding at least once in eight of their ten trips on the road.
