Eastleigh vs Dover Predictions
- Eastleigh have scored more than once in just two out of seven at home against teams currently in the middle third of the National League.
- Dover have scored more than once in just one out of four away games against the current bottom eight.
- Less than three goals have been scored in five of Eastleigh’s seven home games against teams in Dover’s bracket.
- Three or more goals have been scored in just 29% of Eastleigh’s home league matches this season.
Hosts look to bounce back
Eastleigh have seemingly put a halt to back-to-back losses, which indicates progress, though Tuesday’s hosts continue to suffer due to a lack of consistency. They’ve not won back-to-back games since October and have won just two of their last six. At present, they’re four points above the drop-zone with games in hand, but unless they start to string together results, then it won’t be long before they’re in real danger.
At home, things have been a bit better. Wins remains largely elusive, but Eastleigh have done a more than reasonable job of avoiding defeat at Silverlake Stadium of late, losing just one of their last five, as well as just two of their last 13. Ben Strevens’ men have performed reasonably well against the teams in the middle part of the table, which is where Dover are, winning two, drawing four and losing just one of their seven home games against sides that currently sit between 9th and 16th position.
Dover on the slide
Where they were once a side with play-off hopes, Dover are now a side clinging onto a top-half position, such has been their recent form. Tuesday’s visitors have won none of their last three, two of which they’ve lost, while they’ve now lost three of their last five.
Since the turn of the year, Dover have also found it tough to get going on the road, losing four out of six. They’ve won one of the other two. A lack of goals has become a problem for the Whites on their travels. They’ve notched in just two of their last six away matches in 2020.
Away against the current bottom eight, Dover have done better, winning two and drawing two of their travelling matches against such opposition. They’ve scored in three of those four and have conceded in just two, conceding more than once at no points.
Goals to stay away
Based on what we’ve seen from this pair, ‘Under 2.5 Goals’ sticks out as a viable option. Eastleigh have been involved in plenty of low-scoring fixtures at home this season with only 29% of their home matches containing more than two goals. Moreover, they’ve scored more than once in just two out of seven against middle-third teams. Similarly, Dover have scored more than once in just 25% of their away matches against teams in the bottom eight, while less than three goals have been scored in only 44% of their travelling league games.
‘Correct Score’ punters are pointed towards an unexciting 0-0 draw. Add to the above that Dover have regularly failed to score away from home in recent times, coupled with the fact that Eastleigh have failed to score in three of their last six at home and an ultra-low-scoring affair appeals.
