Espanyol vs Athletic Bilbao Betting Tips & Predictions 

Athletic Bilbao are enjoying a good season in league and cup and are in good form. They were made to sweat on Thursday though when they fell 2-0 down to Valencia in the 2nd leg of their Europa League tie at the Mestalla. However as so often has been the case veteran striker Artitz Aduriz popped up with the decisive away goal and the Basques progress to a Quarter Final with Sevilla. European qualification via the league is all but guaranteed and after a run of 4 consecutive victories in the Primera Division they have an outside chance of challenging for 4th place.

At the other end of the table Espanyol have also made progress in recent weeks after a wretched run of form left them deep in relegation trouble. Victories over Deportivo, Sporting Gijon and Rayo Vallecano over the past month have moved them up to 14th though and they have a 5 point cushion on the bottom 3. They may need another couple of wins to guarantee their survival but would probably be content if they can get anything from this game.

Espanyol will be hoping there are some tired legs in the Athletic Bilbao ranks and there must be given they have played more games than any side in La Liga this season. Both teams have scored in 4 of Espanyol’s last 6 matches and they have scored in 5 of those games and you can certainly see a home goal here with Athletic having the worst defensive record in the top 6 by some distance. They’ve scored in all of their last 7 games though so backing a 2-2 draw at 14/1 appeals and offers big potential returns from what should be a fairly even contest.
