Everton vs Manchester United Predictions

The pressure is mounting on Roberto Martinez, and elimination from the FA Cup on Saturday could seal his fate and see him be shipped from the club in the summer. They come into this match having not won any of their last six matches, with three losses and three draws giving them a poor return of three points from a possible 18.

This six game winless streak won’t be the thing that hurts the most for the Goodison Park faithful though; that would be their horrendous display in the 4-0 thrashing they suffered at the hands of Liverpool on Wednesday.

Everton were truly shocking as they failed to even put up a fight against their arch rivals. Liverpool bossed possession and had a ridiculous number of attempts on goal, whereas Everton failed to threaten the Liverpool back line at all. An FA Cup elimination could be the final nail in Martinez’ coffin.

Manchester United, on the other hand, are in relatively good form as they go on a quest to salvage what has been a largely disappointing season. They have won five of their last six in all competitions and find themselves well in the hunt for a top four spot, and the possibility of silverware is a welcome addition to the season.

It has been rare that we have seen any thrilling displays of football during Manchester United games this season, and on the whole this good run of form is no different. However, their performance in their FA Cup Quarter Final replay at Upton Park was excellent, and if they can perform like that again on Saturday they will, in all likelihood, be making the trip down to Wembley again this season.

Everton haven’t exactly been poor in the FA Cup either though. They may be seven games without a win in the Premier League, but they put on a fine display when they beat Chelsea 2-0 in the quarter final of the cup, with Romelu Lukaku netting one of the goals of the tournament.

Everton sunk to new depths on Wednesday as their main rivals hammered them, and it will take an awful lot for them to bounce back from that. Manchester United, meanwhile, are full of confidence after a good run of form. I think it will be Manchester United that we see in the final in May, and odds of 1/1 for a Man United win look very good value to me. I’m going for a 2-0 correct score prediction at 17/2 as well.
